About Us

Crumb Bums Ministries believes God calls us to meet people at their point of need while sharing the hope found in Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches that “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead” (James 2:17), and that when we fail to care for “the least of these,” we also fail to care for Christ Himself (Matthew 25:45).

We believe that every person is created in the image of God and is therefore worthy of compassion, dignity, justice, and respect, regardless of their circumstances in life.

Why the name “Crumb Bums”? Crumb Bums Ministries emerged when a weekly community meal ministry making meals available to those dealing with food insecurity was shut down. In this instance, those that were making use of the opportunity for a meal each week included municipal workers, those on low/fixed income, elderly members of the community and the homeless in the area. During the 2 years that ministry was thriving, there were those in the community that mocked “oh, that is the place were all the bums go. The Crumb Bums is what I call it”.  When we learned of the label our hearts were broken to hear of those with such hard hearts mocking their neighbors in need and those serving as commanded by Jesus. Matthew 15: 21-28, relays the events of Jesus’s encountering the Canaanite Woman. It is a remarkable event and a beautiful example of Faith by the Canaanite woman and a reminder that Jesus came for all. In verse 26 Jesus says, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs” To which this faithful woman replied in verse 27,  “Yes it is, Lord. Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”  With that, we decided it appropriate to take a comment that was intended to discredit and mock the serving of others and flip the script. "Crumb Bums Ministries" was born.

At present, we are in the process of securing our non-profit status and it is our desire to partner with others who share the same passion and gift of service in the communities we serve. Download our flyer to share with friends!

Share your heart and life with others, even if the meal is simple and the setting is humble. The most important gift of welcome simply says I care, I love you and I have prepared a place for you.
